Septuagesima refers to 70 days before Lent.  It is a time to prepare ourselves for the 40 days of Lent that begin this year on February 22, Ash Wednesday.  As we look at the Sunday Scriptures during these Septuagesima times preceding Ash Wednesday and meditate upon them, we see Jesus’ call to conversion in the Sermon on The Mount.  Meditation upon these readings may show us what we need to work on during Lent, on what needs improvement and change in our life.  Why?  So that we can be a better witness to the Kingdom of God and serve one another.
